This research study was conducted under an MoU with the City Managers’ Association of Karnataka (CMAK). The objective of the project was to conduct a study on sustainable urban financing options for 12 urban local bodies (ULBs) identified for the purpose, including existing revenue generation, trends in urbanisation, sustainable alternative finance models, and reforms to improve accountability and financial strength of the ULBs. The project also envisaged decentralised revenue generation and the use of technology, innovative financial tools, and recommendations for sustained economic growth and financial independence of the ULBs.
