This project investigated the link between the work environment and childcare, focusing on informal working mothers in India and South Africa. IIHS conducted a literature review, designed, implemented, and carried out surveys and group discussions in New Delhi, in partnership with SEWA Delhi and technical input and support from the World Health Organization (WHO). The research analysed daily life patterns, childcare practices, and male partners' attitudes. Findings aimed to inform interventions addressing the connections between informal work and health, laying the groundwork for potential deeper intervention trials.
