This project aimed to establish a knowledge partnership on land records, land governance and management of land-based systems and conducting a detailed diagnostic of land record and on-ground situation in peripheral areas of Chandigarh, along with suggesting suitable modes towards harmonious integration of these peripheral areas with Chandigarh's planned core. The objectives of the project were to: (i) Conduct a diagnosis of land records status in peripheral areas of Chandigarh and prepare an action plan to improve their status. (ii) Conduct a diagnosis of existing situation in peripheral areas in terms of land use, land availability, development mechanisms and plot sizes. (iii) Provide policy options for land development in peripheral areas in accordance with the Chandigarh Master Plan.
