The project aimed to study urban expansion in medium sized cities of India. The project focused on the cities of Sholapur in Maharashtra, Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh and looked at how infrastructure investments, urban planning, regulation and processes relating to land markets, and other historical factors and natural features affect a city’s spatial growth and, in turn, the consequences of these patterns.
