IIHS did a third-party evaluation of the progress of implementation of the 11 AMRUT reforms in 2015–16 and 2016–17. The study was conducted for MoHUA by NIUA with help from empanelled training entities. The study was carried out in five cities each from Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, and studied the impact of these reforms on the ground, validate and analyse the reforms undertaken, strategise and finalise the next set of reforms. IIHS conducted city visits for on-site/field verification of the reform milestones and collected necessary documents from respective state and urban local bodies. This study provided insights into the impact of the reforms implemented by the three states and helped in devising strategies for further improving the basic infrastructure and services in the urban areas of India.
