Shalini BG works as a Senior Associate at IIHS and has over eight years of experience. As part of the Library team, she is responsible for overseeing the databases and cartographic material sections, meticulously handling tasks such as subscribing, accessioning, cataloging, and facilitating user access. Additionally, she plays a key role in supporting reference and information services, aiding users in locating and accessing both print and electronic resources within the IIHS Library. Her diverse responsibilities extend to collection development, monitoring IIHS Faculty research, academic and practice publications, and maintaining updates on the IIHS Google Scholar profile and the Knowledge Gateway.
She holds a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Mysore, with professional interests centered around library management, collection development in the digital environment, and electronic library resources and services. She is well-versed in the Koha Library Management System for library operations, and proficient in repository systems like Greenstone and DSpace. Shalini has honed her expertise in library classification schemes, including the Dewey Decimal Classification, and cataloging standards such as Machine Readable Cataloging and Resource Description and Access (RDA).
Beyond her professional pursuits, Shalini’s exclusive hobbies encompass reading novels and writing.
