Anusree K is an anthropologist and visual researcher with a background in social anthropology. She specialises in visual anthropology, particularly in translating research data into compelling ethnographic films and photographs. Her work is deeply rooted in field-based investigations, where she critically analyses qualitative data through a gender-sensitive lens. Currently, she is an external consultant at the IIHS.
Before joining IIHS, Anusree earned her MSc in Anthropology from Delhi University. Her thesis featured the production of an ethnographic film, ‘”Pots, Pans, and Politics’”, which explored the role of Mahila Mandals in Shiv Nath Village, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. The film was showcased at the Beyond Borders Feminist Film Festival (organised by Kriti Film Club) and screened at the Dialogue International Film Festival and Panchajanyam International Film Festival in Kerala.
She also directed the film ‘”School’” during her BSc in Anthropology, a film thatwhich offers an intimate portrayal of her mother’s experiences as a primary school teacher at GLPS Mundur, Palakkad, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
