Our Networks
Building dynamic and robust networks is a key part of IIHS’ commitment to being an interdisciplinary institution focused on India’s urbanisation. Three kinds of networks are critical to IIHS’ mission:

Networks of Knowledge, with international and domestic universities and research institutions

Networks of Practice, with governments, UN and development agencies, and private actors

Networks of People, with citizens, learners, scholars, and changemakers

It is through these networks that IIHS has been supported in its research, practice, and training by some of the largest and most prestigious foundations, research councils, donor institutions and corporates, alongside partnerships with several bilateral, multilateral and UN agencies, research institutions and universities.

IIHS’ institutional credentials include accreditation with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), recognition as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and observer status with the Intergovernmental Science–Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

IIHS’ mission is to enable India’s urban transformation over the 21st century by creating, applying, and disseminating India-centric knowledge and applied research rooted in the country’s plural cultures, landscapes, languages, scholarship, and Constitutional values.
