Lead – Campus Development

OverView

Amol Mangrulkar is currently working with the IIHS Campus Development team. His work / practice / research focus areas include strategic campus development planning, healthcare infrastructure planning, policy interventions for green buildings, spatial design and sustainable material guidelines, master planning, and sustainable services in the built environment at the scale of sites and buildings.

Amol has a bachelor’s in architecture (with university gold medal in 2007) from SV College of Architecture, Hyderabad, and master’s in environmental planning from Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad. He has 15 years of professional experience in architectural design, implementation and action research, working with Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), Development Alternatives in New Delhi, Centre for Vernacular Architecture in Bengaluru, Ladakh Ecological Development Group in Leh, Ladakh, and Sandilya Consulting Engineers, Hyderabad. His interest areas include sustainable campus planning, credit-based eco-housing, capacity building of masons and rural women in producing eco-friendly building materials and construction technologies, climate responsive design of buildings, impacts of climate change on construction industry, water and sanitation, sustainable building services and healthcare infrastructure planning. He has worked on projects with central government departments like Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Military Engineering Services (MES), Department of Science & Technology (DST) and state government departments like Telangana / Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation; Andhra Pradesh Rajiv Swagruha Corporation; Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation; Telangana State Forest Academy; Hyderabad Metro Rail; and Madhya Pradesh Road and Rural Development Authority. He has worked in New Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Amol has been awarded the Commendation Certificate Award from Indian Buildings Congress (IBC) for a paper titled ‘Credit Based Eco Housing Model for Rural Areas’ in 2016 and First Prize (in construction sector: skill development of construction workers) in Skill India Fellowship Programme organised by Aspiring Minds in Collaboration with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in 2017.
