Srinithi Sudhakar Moopanar

Srinithi Sudhakar Moopanar holds a master’s in development studies from SOAS, University of London, and a bachelor’s in economics, and has a decade of expertise in planning, researching, and implementing government development projects.

In her role at IIHS, Srinithi primarily focuses on two pivotal programs: the Tamil Nadu Urban Sanitation and Support Programme (TNUSSP) and the City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS). At TNUSSP, her efforts are centred on strengthening institutions and improving governance mechanisms. This encompasses comprehensive tasks such as conducting in-depth research, delineating governance functions, formulating legislative frameworks, and actively supporting implementation by collaborating with government entities to ensure service delivery.

In her involvement with the CWIS programme, Srinithi delves into research and documentation, specifically addressing the areas of governance and enhancement of occupational safety for sanitation workers. Her scholarly contributions include co-authoring the journal article, ‘Framework for Addressing Occupational Safety of De-sludging Operators’, published in the Journal of Environmental Management (JEMA). This work was recognised as the Best Published Research Paper by the UNC Water and Health Conference 2021.

Beyond these roles, her contribution to IIHS extends to policy analysis, proposal development, communication strategy and capacity building.

Before IIHS, she worked at CDM Smith India Private Limited where she was involved in preparing social impact assessment, rehabilitation, and feasibility reports for government infrastructure development projects.
