overview

IIHS partnered with Godrej Foods Limited (GFL) to support its CSR efforts in addressing water-related challenges in Hosakote, Bengaluru Rural district. IIHS assessed the full water cycle across 16 villages within a 5 km radius of GFL’s facility, examining groundwater and surface water status, water supply and greywater infrastructure, and usage patterns. The study included consultations with residents, farmers, industry representatives, and government officers to understand challenges and conservation efforts. A water balance was developed to assess overall availability and demand. It informed a strategic action plan aimed at improving water access and quality, strengthening infrastructure and governance, building local capacity, and promoting behavioural change to support long-term water security and resilience in the region.
