overview

IIHS undertook a study in Kannagi Nagar, a resettlement colony in Chennai, building on prior research across multiple urban poor settlements. The project combined household surveys, transect walks, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews with a review of existing literature, alongside stakeholder consultations to incorporate diverse perspectives. Drawing on extensive community engagement, the study assessed water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) conditions and practices, and identified short- and medium-term interventions to improve service delivery and uptake. The work aimed to inform inclusive approaches to enhancing health and well-being in resettlement contexts.
