overview

This project strengthened ecological sustainability and environmental resilience in Bengaluru’s urban and peri-urban regions through GIS- and remote sensing-assisted mapping, pilot studies, baseline ecological assessments, and stakeholder capacity-building workshops. Focusing on water conservation, heat mitigation, and biodiversity preservation within urban blue and green spaces, the project improved understanding of sustainable water management and lake restoration strategies. Implemented at Bheemanakuppe-Ramasagara and Hosakere lakes near Kengeri, and at the IIHS Campus, the initiative generated evidence and restoration approaches in partnership with government agencies, contributing to a scalable roadmap for the ecological restoration and long-term management of urban water bodies.
