IIHS undertook a research project to assess the ecological performance of a high-density native Miyawaki forest established in a peri-urban site in Nashik. The work focused on understanding how such afforestation models contribute to biodiversity restoration, ecological resilience, and microclimate regulation in urbanising contexts. Through a combination of field-based monitoring and analytical studies, IIHS examined vegetation growth, faunal presence, soil health, and emerging ecosystem dynamics. The project generated insights into how compact native forests can enhance ecosystem services and support diverse species assemblages, while also shaping soil and hydrological conditions over time.
