The programme advances housing justice through participatory research, community organising, and knowledge co-production. Working closely with residents of informal settlements, community researchers, and civil society organisations, the programme uses participatory mapping, archiving, media, and documentation to strengthen community leadership and generate evidence for more inclusive housing policy and practice. Since 2023, the project has strengthened capacities of community-based residents on issues of housing, governance and health. Further, the project works on working with women in informal settlements on setting up SHGs and support groups on health. The programme curriculum is designed to build technical skills such as using GIS, communication skills, research skills and deepening theoretical undertsanding of governance and Southern urban theory.
