overview

In this project, IIHS supported efficiency improvements in 40 micro-composting centres (MCCs) of the Tiruchirappalli City Corporation. This involved promoting waste segregation at source, supporting upgrade of processing facilities, capacity development of a range of stakeholder groups, and support to the Corporation in improved monitoring of operations. This will increase waste processing capacity in Tiruchirappalli by about 50,000 tonnes per annum. The project scope also included the integration of informal sector workers and providing them enterprise development and other support for livelihood improvement.
