Rahul R is a dedicated professional from Thiruvananthapuram. He is now based in Bengaluru, where he is part of the procurement team at IIHS. With a strong focus on sustainability and responsible sourcing, Rahul has been instrumental in advancing eco-friendly procurement initiatives at IIHS, including sustainable sourcing, prioritising recyclable and low-impact materials wherever possible.
Rahul holds an MSc in Ecology, with a specialisation in Ecological Informatics from Digital University Kerala, where he also studied sustainability and ESG. This academic foundation strengthened his analytical skills and provided him with a thorough understanding of environmental responsibility. At IIHS, he applies this expertise in life cycle analysis (LCA), evaluating materials and processes to support eco-conscious product procurement. Rahul also supports sustainable sourcing by designing procurement dashboards for spend analytics.
Rahul has completed a three-month internship at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) in Goa, focusing on physical oceanography. During this time, he developed a dissolved oxygen profile for the Arabian Sea’s oxygen minimum zone, examining its effects on regional dynamics using Argo float data. His technical expertise spans Python and R, with experience in QGIS, which complements his work in procurement and sustainability analytics at IIHS.
