OverView

Satyajeet Gupta works at the intersection of ecology, chemical biology, and institutional strategy, bridging laboratory science, field ecology, and higher education management. His work integrates molecular biology, chemical ecology, environmental toxicology, and regulatory sciences with research leadership, grant development, and the mentorship of early-career scholars.

At Northvolt, Sweden, Satyajeet expanded his expertise into industry and regulatory frameworks, contributing to research and innovation in sustainable energy and advanced materials. His role involved cross-functional collaboration, analytical science, and project management within a rapidly scaling global technology company, positioning him at the forefront of science–industry interfaces.

Previously, at SLU Alnarp, Sweden (2021–2023), he led international research on host–plant choice, insect–microbiome interactions, volatile ecology, and climate-change adaptation in insect–plant systems. His doctoral research at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, examined phoresy in fig–fig wasp–nematode systems, combining field ecology, molecular phylogenetics, behavioural experiments, and chemical analysis. He has also contributed to research on pesticide detection using LC–MS/MS and GC–MS/MS platforms and explored volatile-mediated plant–insect communication.

Satyajeet’s research has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of Animal Ecology, Journal of Chemical Ecology, and Functional Ecology. He actively mentors PhD students and early-career researchers in experimental design, scientific writing, and career development.

With experience across interdisciplinary and international collaborations, Satyajeet has worked on tropical mutualisms, climate change biology, and analytical science projects linking environmental exposures to human health, alongside industry partnerships on sustainability and regulation. His professional certifications include Research Management (ReMaT, Hamburg), Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Innovations (University of Minnesota), Lean Six Sigma, Agile Foundations, and multiple GMP/GDP/Regulatory Affairs trainings—strengthening his ability to navigate the interfaces of science, policy, and operations.

He has presented his work at global conferences and contributed to networks in ecology, entomology, and chemical biology. Beyond research, he has served in project management and institutional leadership roles as Vice Chair of SNPA (Swedish Network of Postdoc Associations) and SLUPA (SLU Postdoc Association), focusing on higher education strategy, grant operations, stakeholder engagement, and science communication.

Satyajeet holds an integrated MS–PhD in Biological Sciences from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, where he was a Gold Medallist, and a BSc in Zoology (Hons.), Botany, and Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University.

His vision is to advance research and leadership at the nexus of discovery, sustainability, and innovation, working across academia, industry, and policy to build bridges between science and society.
